DESCRIPTION:The passing of Prof. Karl Menten\, the APEX Principal Investig
 ator\, who initiated APEX at the end of the 90s when he joined the Max Pla
 nck Society\, fills us with great sadness. He always enjoyed the APEX Ring
 berg workshops to discuss the exciting science APEX is making possible.  
 This workshop is an opportunity to remember him and will therefore be dedi

 -------------------\n\nThe Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX)  12 m sub
 millimeter telescope has significantly contributed to a wide variety of as
 tronomy science areas\, ranging from the discoveries of new molecules to l
 arge-scale and deep imaging of the submillimeter sky.\n\nSince 2012\, ever
 y other year\, the Ringberg APEX workshops bring together APEX users and o
 ther interested scientists working on a wide range of exciting results cov
 ering the Solar System to distance galaxies in the early universe. APEX202
 5 aims at presenting new science results and to looking into new science o
 pportunities for the next few years.\n\nIn the last years\, APEX has been 
 significantly improved by upgrades of the antenna itself as well as new he
 terodyne instruments highly complementary to ALMA. A new large-format\, du
 al frequency continuum camera is in commissioning as well as a new 3mm het
 erodyne receiver for APEX. Furthermore\, a receiver for  the 350 micron a
 tmospheric window is being prepared. Therefore the workshop aims also at d
 iscussing ambitious new large science programs with the telescope.\n\nThe 
 conference venue\, Ringberg Castle\, provides a unique setting for in dept
 h discussions on current and future science with APEX. In particular\, ses
 sions on new scientific results\, on synergies with other observatories an
 d on the exploitation of the new APEX capabilities are envisioned. Splinte
 r sessions are foreseen for in-depth discussion of ongoing and future larg
