M81* The third closest Active Galactic Nucleus (AGN), provides a good test for understanding the emission mechanisms in low-luminosity AGNs (LLAGN). Despite its proximity M81 has been subject of remarkably few in (dedicated) radio studies.
The aim of this study is to understand different properties of M81 via observations using Effelsberg Radio Telescope as well as with VLBI observations carried out with the EVN and the VLBA. This observational study includes periodic monitoring of variability with different observational frequencies included in the range of 5 GHz - 25 GHz as well as VLBI core-position angle measurements, which will lead in better understanding of its accretion disk and the jet structure. By comparing the results obtained from this case study to Sgr A and M87 we will be able to constrain the jet dynamics and emission mechanism.
